Event was held in person for the first time since 2019

The Warren Police Department held a special ceremony for National Police Week on May 8 to pay tribute to fallen officers.

The ceremony was held in the Warren City Hall atrium and marked the first time since 2019 that it has been held in person.

“I am happy to have this event return to an in-person ceremony because of what this event means to anybody who has ever worked in law enforcement,” said Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer. “Officers know the dangers of the job and show up to work every day to confront these dangers head-on.

“The fact that an entire week is created for the community to honor these men and women speaks to the respect and admiration the public holds for its police officers, particularly those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. and show their support for the men and women of the Warren Police Department.”

The event featured the Metro Detroit Police & Fire Pipes and Drums Band, music from the Warren Cousino High School Marching Band, a presentation by the Warren Police Honor Guard, comments from Warren Mayor James Fouts as well as a tribute to officers from Dwyer.
