Heart quote | Isn't my hair just gorgeous? Of course, I do spend a lot of time on it. I was so bored cooped up in that painting... Now I spend all my time in front of the mirror. It seems to scare people, though, so everything is coming up roses! |
- “Oh dear...Such a draft...”
- —Lydia, Luigi's Mansion
Lydia, the Mirror Gazing Mother is the second portrait ghost that Luigi encounters in Luigi's Mansion. She is Neville's wife and the mother of Chauncey and the twins Henry and Orville. She is rather vain and is very proud of her well-groomed blonde hair. To keep it in that condition, she spends a large portion of her time primping her hair in front of a mirror. She gets upset very easily when something threatens the condition of her hair. Lydia keeps a child care diary.
Lydia was captured by Professor Elvin Gadd and turned into a portrait in the past, something she is visibly upset about. However, she was later set free again by King Boo when he took revenge for the capture of Boolossus. Her portrait number in Professor E. Gadd's gallery is 2.
Luigi's Mansion
During Luigi's Mansion, Lydia is found in the Master Bedroom in the first area of the Mansion. She becomes accessible after her husband Neville has been captured. She is sitting in front of her dresser, combing her hair. She is so immersed in her hair that she is completely unresponsive to Luigi's flashlight. To make her vulnerable, Luigi has to open the curtains to her left with his Poltergust 3000. This causes a breeze to enter the bedroom through a hole in the window. Lydia, distracted by the breeze, then gets up to close the curtains again, at which point she can be stunned by the flashlight and re-captured. If Luigi fails to capture her the first time, Lydia will disappear, reappear at the back side of the bedroom and casually close the curtains, and return to her mirror, forcing Luigi to repeat the process. After catching her with the Poltergust 3000, Luigi obtains the key leading to the Nursery.
Luigi can also read Lydia's Child-Care Diary, which can be found in the Study in a book shelf behind the desk. Doing that provides the player with information on how to lure Henry and Orville out of hiding in The Twins' Room.
Physical appearance
Lydia has a slender body with light blue skin. Her head is balloon-shaped, and she has blonde hair, yellow-green eyes, pink eye shadow, pink lipstick, and green earrings. She is dressed in a pink bathrobe.
