A giant new videoboard, a 75,000-square foot function space and an enhanced lighthouse are all part of the planned renovation at the north end of Gillette Stadium that was announced Friday. Construction on the project is expected to begin early in 2022 and is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2023 New England Patriots season.

The north end (lighthouse side) project combined with the south end (banners side) project last year will represent $225 million of enhancements to the 19-year-old stadium.

The new function space will be a glass-enclosed area that connects club and suite levels on either side of the field, one story above the main concourse. It will be used for events year-round.

The Patriots are billing the new videoboard as “the largest outdoor stadium high-definition video board at 370-by-60 feet nearly twice the size of the new board at the south end of the field. According to the release “The curved radius HD video board will provide game action, replays, statistics and fantasy football updates.”

The new lighthouse will be taller at 218-feet and will feature a 360-degree observation deck that fans will have access to.

New fan entrances, concession stands and other amenities are also part of the project.
