Exit and Emergency Lighting

The placement and installation of Emergency Lighting and Exit Signs must meet local fire and building codes. Emergency egress lighting and signs are meant to provide safety for those living and working nearby.

When exit signs and emergency lights are properly installed, they offer clear guidance and a higher level of security for people and property.

These codes have been developed over the years due in part to past disasters where lives and property were lost because occupants could not get out of a burning building in time. Over the course of time, the codes have evolved to meet the changing needs of the population.

Exit Signs

Good exit signage has proven its worth by saving lives over the years. Though the standards do change from one state to the next, signs should be large and clearly visible. LED exit signs offer good illumination and save money by using less power. These signs come manufactured of tough steel for industrial purposes, as well as attractive plastics. In upscale buildings, there is a wide assortment of architecturally distinct exit signs that do the job without sticking out like a sore thumb.

Emergency Lighting

Emergency lighting typically consists of large LED lamps that are mounted above a doorway or in a stairwell. There are indoor and outdoor versions of this, with both being flame retardant with high impact housing. Outdoor versions of emergency lighting systems are also waterproof and built to be more durable. Many versions are powered by a nickel-cadmium battery and UL Listed. The lamp heads are usually adjustable and available in both 6 volt and 12 volt models.
