After flying high against the Newcomb Skyhawks on Wednesday, the Grants Pirates came back down to earth. Grants took a 55-41 bruising from Mesa Vista on Thursday.
Mesa Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tana Lopez , who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The game was Lopez 's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Shanae Silva , who scored 23 points along with three steals.
Grants' defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Mesa Vista, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Grants and Bernalillo will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mesa Vista and Dulce will face off at 12:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Dulce is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
