Multiple myeloma (MM) is a hematologic cancer in which monoclonal plasma cells proliferate in the bone marrow, destroying bone and displacing other hematopoietic cell lines. Its presentation can range from asymptomatic to severely symptomatic, with complications requiring emergent treatment. One key goal of treatment is to obtain the deepest response in the first round of therapy, leading to better overall survival. However, there is currently no known cure for MM.
