President Donald Trump will visit California on Tuesday to inspect the eight border wall prototypes that were erected along the U.S. border in Otay Mesa outside San Diego.
The prototypes are undergoing a testing and evaluation phase for a variety of characteristics such as:
- Anti-breaching capabilities
- Anti-climbing capabilities
- Anti-digging capabilities
- Impedance and denial of traffic
- Is it safe for Border Patrol agents
The cost of each prototype range between $300,000-$500,000. Four are concrete designs and four are other than concrete. Each contractor had 30 days construct their prototypes and all met that requirement.
Each prototype is about 30 feet above the ground and has a barrier six feed below the ground.
