RING AND PINION TOOTH CONTACT PATTERN...mine with pic

Hi all
To solve a little oil-drops from the axle I have disassemed the axle cover and I found the ring and pinion ( with 8.000 km from new from Moss with 3.07 ratio) as shown in the picture.
The rear was a little bit noisy from the beginning.....probably now quieter....what do you think about the signs on the tooths?

The new gears have to be set up differently than the old MOWOG gears. Anyone that says "I've done a zillion of them" will ruin your gears. When I sell these, I make sure that customers hire someone familiar with setting up "Oerlikon" gears - also called "single cut gears." The old MOWOG gears were called "double cut" gears and are much more forgiving. The new gears need to be set up with ridiculous precision that takes patience and very precise equipment. Without this precise set up, the gears will howl either in forward or reverse and the gears will be damaged (like yours.) The new style gears give you less power loss through the drive train but the local MG mechanic is the wrong person to do them. what is really sad is that I bought the entire axle from MOSS UK as total rebuilt.
Once it arrived in Italy I put it in the car and the noisy was so terrible that I asked MOSS to sent someone to take it back for a checking.
I received it back and put it for a second time.
The situation was better but still noisy.
MOSS told me to use it because it is normal and require some time to run perfectly.
The perfection never arrived....
All this to say that teoretically the axle was built from a "so called" specialist.......
I made a research in the forum and I understand that the 99% of the guys that bought an axle with the 3.07 ratio had exactly the same problem....
At this point I'll go on with it also because the damage is done.....and also because I have not any reference about REAL expert.....

You could try using a good quality non-synthetic oil. Perhaps 90 EP rather than 80 EP and add a bottle of stuff like molyslip. Have a look here for more information:-

This will thicken the oil slightly but should help to dampen the noise a little. The noise is annoying but the gears still have a lot of life in them if you use the car for normal driving. The same axle will cope with a lot more power if required for racing etc. So in normal use it has plenty of spare capacity.
I guess you have checked the bearing settings. The pinion input shaft is normally correctly set with a slight drag. Amongst other things, this also helps to dampen noise. So resetting the clearance could also help. There should be some shims under the universal coupling flange. So replacing one of the thicker ones with one a bit thinner is all that is needed. This doesn't change the position of either gear so won't result in a different wear pattern or more noise.
These are fairly cheap and relatively easy jobs. Worth trying before you get the gears or the complete axle replaced.

My B comes from California....but now, it seems to far to sent an entire axle...unfortunately.
I found here in Milan other "specialized" shop on axles.... modern and classic, but how can I trust now.....do you think that a shop that works on modern axles could be more familiar with ours?
Do they need specific tool for our axle?
No idea and probably too expensive to make another try...
