These are the stunning first images of the planned 'Titanic 2' - a replica of the iconic ship which is due to set sail in 2018.

The eerie images show how closely the new vessel will be modelled on the RMS Titanic - which famously sank in the Atlantic Ocean in 1912.

Despite boasting new technology, the modern Titanic will still stay true to its namesake with features such as Turkish baths and an Edwardian gym.

The ship is the brainchild of wealthy Australian businessman and politician Clive Palmer.

Among the new features, however, will be a helipad and modern safety features.

There will also be a lifeboat for everyone on board - unlike the 1912 vessel, on which more than 1,500 passengers and crew died on the ill-fated voyage.
