The nominations for the BAFTA TV Awards have been announced - and The Crown has bagged come out tops.

The Netflix Original series has five nods including best drama and lead actress for the show's star Claire Foy.

Damiola, Our Loved Boy, Fleabag and Happy Valley all got three nominations each.

Meanwhile, Tom Hiddleston surprisingly missed out on a nod for The Night Manager - after winning a Golden Globe for his role.

Olivia Colman and Hugh Laurie also missed out on nominations for their roles in the BBC drama.

Claire Foy will be up against Happy Valley's Sarah Lancashire, Jodie Comer for BBC Three drama Thirteen and Nikki Amuka-Bird for NW – a BBC adaptation of a Zadie Smith novel.

Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane has been nominated for his fifth BAFTA TV award for his role in Channel 4's National Treasure.

His competition includes Benedict Cumberbatch for his role as Richard III in Shakespeare classic The Hollow Crown: The Wars Of The Roses.

Meanwhile, another Netflix Original series has bagged a nomination for International programme - the now cult show Stranger Things .

It goes up against The People vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story, a Fox show that aired on BBC Two and starred David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian.

The Awards will take place on Sunday 14 May - they will be broadcast on TV on the day of the event.
