This week, Prime Video unleashes the latest chilling instalments from The Rig, as it sets sail on a brand new season packed with mystery and supernatural twists.
Binge-watchers can now devour all six episodes, which thrust the Kinloch Bravo crew back into their harrowing probe into an enigmatic, otherworldly force.
Season one left us on tenterhooks with Rose Mason (played by Emily Hampshire), Magnus MacMillan (Iain Glen), and Fulmer Hamilton (Martin Compston) whisked from the debris of their Scottish oil platform for more eerie research.
The duplicitous David Coake (Mark Addy) takes the helm for the hair-raising next chapter at a clandestine base known as the Stac, tucked away in the icy embrace of the Arctic Circle.
The show's blurb teases: "Here, the trapped crew must deal with the emotional and physical fallout of the devastating tsunami that destroyed the Bravo, and contend with swirling conspiracies, corporate conflicts, and new threats from the dark depths of the world's ocean", reports the Daily Record.
Expect thrills and spills in The Rig's second season, as the characters brave nail-biting challenges and perilous new climes.
But, will The Rig return for a third season?
We won't reveal how this season wraps up, but whispers are that it could set the stage for another thrilling voyage.
Chatting exclusively with Screen Time and other media outlets, series stars Glen, Hampshire, and Rochenda Sandall, who plays Cat Braithwaite, all expressed their eagerness to return for more.
Sandall couldn't contain her excitement: "We'd always like to come back!" which was met with agreement from Glen: "We would love to come back."
He shared candidly, "In all honesty, we really love doing it. We think there's more story to tell, you know.
"The fact is it'll go and hopefully people love it as much as they did the first season, and if they do I think we'll be back for a third."
Hampshire chimed in with a dose of reality: "It is all dependent on... What's hard now is there's so much television so it doesn't even matter how great it is, because it actually is really great.
"Which doesn't always happen. But, people have to find it and they have to be motivated to watch it. Just... make them do it! Make them watch it and then love it so we can come back to Scotland."
While the prospect of a third season hangs in the balance, Glen hinted that the warm reception to the initial six episodes should serve as a good omen for the show's prospects.
Shoppers can get 30 days' free access to binge watchable TV like The Boys by signing up with Amazon Prime. Just remember to cancel at the end and you won't be charged.
"If you start watching it I don't think you can leave it," he said confidently. "They call these things 'completion rates' when people start watching it, and that's what happened with The Rig [season] one.
"It's just really good storytelling by David [Macpherson], it's very compelling to find out what's unfolding. So, hopefully people start watching it."
As of now, Prime Video has yet to confirm if The Rig will be renewed beyond its second season.
That said, the announcement for the second season came just a month after the debut of the first in January 2023, so fans should expect news about the Bravo crew's return sooner rather than later.
The Rig season 2 is available to stream on Prime Video.
