GRAND BLANC, MI
-- At the start of the school year, students at Indian Hill Elementary School were given a challenge -- log one million minutes of reading.
In recognition of reading month, students were recognized this month by far exceeding that goal. The roughly 500 students logged 1.7 million minutes, or more than 28,000 hours, of reading.
The Million Minute Reading Challenge started at the beginning of the school year and the students were encouraged to read daily and turn in minutes read.
Wednesday, the students got a visit from "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" and Principal Sarah Stone dressed at Cat in the Hat to celebrate their accomplishment.
