Holland apartment fire damages 8 units, firefighters rescue 6 cats

HOLLAND, MI -- An early morning apartment fire damaged or destroyed eight units but fire officials say no one was injured.

Holland firefighters managed to rescue six cats from the building at 1028 Abbey Court.

The fire was reported about 2 a.m. Saturday, July 7 and firefighters arrived to find heavy fire at the back of the building.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

All occupants of the building had safely evacuated by the time firefighters arrived.

Workers with the American Red Cross of Ottawa County and Holland Victims Services were at the scene to assist residents with temporary housing and other needs.
