This coming weekend weather reminds very much of the last two weekends. No storm systems around to produce any rain, but a cool northeast wind will blow.
Let’s start with the surface weather maps, and they are easy to digest.
Saturday has no stormy weather going on.
Sunday also has no storms around, and should be quite sunny.
But the wind will be out of the northeast this weekend, and Lake Huron and Lake Superior are still chilly.
There could actually be frost across the Upper Peninsula Saturday morning, and even a light spotty frost inland over northern Lower Michigan. For the rest of Lower Michigan, get ready for a cool feel at daybreak Saturday.
Saturday is going to be a cool day by June standards, with afternoon’s warmest temperatures only in the 60s.
Sunday morning is going to be a cold one also, with temperatures plunging into the low-40s as far south as Lansing and Jackson.
The wind won’t be real strong this weekend, even with it blowing out of the northeast. Northeast winds off cool Great Lakes waters are usually strongest around Saginaw Bay and the Lake Huron shoreline. Grand Traverse Bay near Traverse City can also get gusty on a northeast wind.
Most of Michigan will have northeast winds less than 10 mph Saturday afternoon. Our models are smart enough to forecast the stronger northeast winds coming down Saginaw Bay into the Saginaw, Bay City and Midland areas.
It’s still a northeast wind into Sunday afternoon, and the wind is still strongest on Saginaw Bay.
So you’ll need a jacket at times this weekend. You’ll also need sunglasses and sunscreen. Remember, even though the air is chilly, the sun still has the same power to give you a sunburn.
