Former UFC fighter and current Bellator light-heavyweight fight Yoel Romero wants to make his debut for the promotion in the summer and desires to kill somebody in his debut.
Former UFC Middleweight fighter and the newly signed Bellator light-heavyweight prospect Yoel Romero is excited to make his Bellator debut. He wants to make his debut in the summer and has some violent intentions for his debut. In December 2020, it was announced that Romero had signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA and is expected to compete in its light heavyweight division in 2021.
The promotion announced that Romero would be competing in the Bellator Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix Tournament. He was scheduled to face Anthony Johnson in the quarterfinal round at Bellator 257. Later it was published that the bout would be moved to Bellator 258. But unfortunately, Yoel had failed his medicals due to an eye issue and the fight was pulled from the card, and the Grand Prix Tournament, being replaced by Jose Augusto who then ultimately lost the fight to Anthony Johnson.
Yoel Romero ready for his debut
Now after few weeks of rest, Yoel says that he feels good and looks to make his Bellator debut by this summer but also has some cruel intentions for his debut opponent.
Speaking to The Schmo, Romero said that his fans can expect to see him compete this summer, and he said he’s looking forward to coming back so he can “kill somebody.”
“The fans can see me very, very soon. Maybe August. Maybe August, maybe 205lbs or maybe 185lbs. I want to fight for the belt in both classes. But I’m coming soon. I’m coming soon,” Romero said. “I want to kill somebody.”
There are only a few men in the sport of MMA who can be as intimidating as Romero. As many consider him as a freak of nature, at the age of 40 he still looks in amazing shape and can step up to fight any fighter at any given time.
The Bellator CEO Scott Cooker has suggested an intriguing fight between Gegard Mousasi vs Yoel Romero.
“We have a couple of really good fights for Gegard ahead of him,” Coker said. “We have something to announce probably by (Friday), maybe? Or maybe early next week. There are a lot of people who want to fight Gegard, so we have a lot of fights for him lined up. One of those guys is, you know, Romero. He’s a guy that might want to move back down to 185 (pounds). We’re talking to his management, and maybe he can get a fight or two. Then, he also wants to fight for the title. That 185-pound weight class, once we get going on the series here, will have a lot of competition.”
