HONG KONG. Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has created a ‘Lifestyle Retail Zone’ in its West Hall departures zone, featuring an eclectic series of innovative new concepts.
AAHK has also introduced several key new outlets to its popular East Hall Food Court with more to follow soon as part of a major refurbishment and programme makeover of one of the airport’s most popular commercial precincts.
The Lifestyle Retail Zone is designed to offer transfer passengers using the distant West Hall gates a themed range of services, shops and food offers that each represent a point of difference from those usually found in airports.
Those to open so far include an express hairdressing concept called QB Premium Haircut & Style; the just-opened Oriental Massage Centre; athleisure offer Lululemon; and an innovative kid’s entertainment project called Dream Come True Maker Workshop.
Still to come are a Ray-Ban eye examination outlet offering instant eyesight prescriptions; and a KaravanStop lifestyle café described as “not your usual chain coffee shop”.
AAHK is also moving towards completion of a three-pronged Hong Kong Brand Zone that features popular local gift concept Homeless, a Goods of Desire shop, and a Discover Hong Kong store.
A Japan Freezia ice-cream store selling freshly prepared soft ice cream will open soon near Gate 43.
In the East Hall Food Court, AAHK has so far introduced three new concepts as part of an ambitious redevelopment of this key zone. They are:
- Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop – featuring traditional Chinese/Cantonese congee and noodles;
- Putien – an airport incarnation of a Michelin-starred Hong Kong restaurant concept (the original restaurant was founded in Singapore in 2000, named after a coastal city in Fujian province – the owner’s home town);
- Moon Thai Express – an acclaimed downtown Thai restaurant concept making its airport debut.
Further kiosks will be introduced soon in the Food Court which is being refurbished in phases. Now that the three outlets mentioned above are open, others will close while further refurbishment and introduction of new offers takes place. New furniture has been introduced to revitalise this high-traffic zone with the whole area set for completion by year-end.
