Wastewater Capture
Morclean’s vehicle wash pads capture all wastewater through a drain and a surface-mounted sump pump. This collected water can then either be discharged to the foul sewer, partially treated using a Morclean BlueBox or GreyBox, or pumped into a water reclaim system.
It’s important to know that it is a criminal offense to cause or knowingly allow the discharge of solid waste, poisonous, noxious, or polluting substances, including trade or sewage effluent, into surface water or groundwater without prior permission from the Environmental Regulator.
Pump Stations
The Wash Pad can also be used alongside the Morclean Pump Station. This surface-mounted unit, housed in a kiosk, collects water from the Wash Pad’s outlet and pumps it safely to the drain. Each Wash Pad comes with a standard drain at one end but can also be supplied as a fully watertight retainer if needed.
Stay Compliant
All dewaxing, cleaning, and degreasing activities should be carried out in designated wash bay areas – not on open ground that drains into surface water systems, watercourses, or soakaways. Using a water recycling system alongside the wash pad can also help reduce water usage and save on operating costs.
The wash pad itself should be impermeable and surrounded by a raised curb, ensuring that wastewater is directed either to a foul sewer or to a sealed pump. Never route drainage from these areas through an oil interceptor, as the oil can become emulsified and bypass the interceptor.
Most importantly, wash pads eliminate the need for costly and permanent concrete wash pads. They are a much more flexible solution, especially where permanent construction isn’t possible – such as on leased land.
