How much power does the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid have?
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid pairs a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 1.87-kWh nickel hydride battery pack to generate 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. It’s the most potent engine in the mid-size truck class and the only hybrid.
This setup has been used in other Toyota vehicles. In the Lexus RX, it cranks out 366 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Also, in the Toyota Crown, the setup provides 340 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. It may provide less power with the Tacoma hybrid due to its extra weight and off-roading equipment.
With the standard 2024 Tacoma, you get the same engine with 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. Upgrading to higher time levels provides 270 hp and 310 lb-ft with the available six-speed manual transmission. It has 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque with the eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2023 Tacoma has a standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, which isn’t exactly exciting. This engine was dropped for 2024. With the 2023 model, you can upgrade to the 3.6-liter V6 engine for 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.
How efficient will the 2024 Tacoma be?
We don’t have the exact fuel economy figures for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid yet. But it should do a little better than the current gas-powered model. The Tacoma gets an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and up to 23 mpg on the highway.
The Toyota Crown gets an EPA-estimated 42 mpg in the city and up to 41 mpg on the highway. But it’s a sedan and is more aerodynamic than a mid-size truck.
The Lexus RX rings in with an EPA-estimated 31 mpg in the city and up to 28 mpg on the highway. This sounds more reasonable.
We were hoping for more towing muscle. The 2023 Tacoma can tow up to 6,800 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,685 lbs. The 2024 Tacoma can only tow up to 6,500 lbs and can carry a payload of up to 1,709 lbs.The 2023 Chevy Colorado can tow up to 7,500 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,160 lbs

What else do we know about the 2024 Tacoma?
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid is sleek and modern with a style that matches the new Toyota Tundra and Toyota Sequioa with a larger grille that’s framed by LED headlights. It has larger bumpers and new wheel designs too.
Plus, the interior is more refined. Hard plastics and other cheap materials were replaced by higher quality options such as leather and pops of wood trim. The backseat is roughly the same size, but it has more innovative storage solutions.
The 8.0-inch touchscreen was ditched for the massive 14.0-inch screen found in the Tundra. It’s safe to expect an updated digital gauge cluster, wireless phone charging pad, and more camera views. Also, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard.
Also, the new multi-link suspension and modern disc brakes provide a better performance. The TRD Pro has new suspension upgrades like FOX QSE three-way adjustable internal bypass shocks. The Trailhunter model is a new trim geared toward overlanding.
