Have you ever wanted an SUV so bad that you were willing to stab someone for it? A woman in Charlotte, North Carolina seems like she would do anything for a Cadillac Escalade. She got one by stealing a salesperson at the dealership and stealing it.

Woman stabs Cadillac salesman and steals SUV

A salesman at the Randy Marion Chevrolet-Cadillac dealership thought he might sell a Cadillac Escalade upon taking a test drive.

Instead, he ended up going to the hospital as a Charlotte, North Carolina woman stabbed him and stole the Escalade.

The Mooresville Police Department shared that 52-year-old Demike Porterfield was charged with assaulting the dealership employee with a knife during a test drive.

Luckily, the employee was able to grab the knife, throw it in the back of the SUV, and escape. He has stab wounds on his hands and face. Porterfield fled the scene but was quickly apprehended at an unoccupied rest area.

According to 3 WBTV, she was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, felony larceny, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Porterfield is being held with a $250,000 bond. She will be going to court on January third and was appointed a public defender.

The 2024 Cadillac Escalade starts with an MSRP of $81,895. The top-spec Premium Luxury Platinum trim takes the price up to $110,695. It’s not an SUV that’s easy for most people to afford.

Also, Porterfield didn’t put much thought into her plan. Every time I’ve ever test driven a vehicle at a dealership, I’ve had to talk with a salesperson first.

This gives them time to see my face and give a description to the police. Plus, they often check my license. This provides my name and home address.

When I was younger, some dealerships would run a credit check before letting me drive cheap SUVs. All of this information makes it very difficult to get away with stealing a car.
