On November 4, 2022, the Washington High School Alumni Scholarship Foundation proudly recognized twelve men and women who are being added to the school’s Hall of Fame. All were selected for exemplary careers and service to the community.
The alumni association hosted a ceremony in the Washington High School library for honorees and their guests. Each honoree was presented with a framed memento bearing their photo and personal biography. Washington High School students were called upon to read each honoree’s story, with Wayne Schwartz, Class of 1949, serving as master of ceremonies.
The Washington Alumni Scholarship Foundation presents Hall of Fame awards every two to three years. A new feature this year was a Distinguished Service Award presented by Donna Rehbeck, Class of 1967, WHS Alumni Scholarship Foundation President. The first two recipients of this new honor are Carl “Chuck” Gobel, Class of 1956, and Linda Durrenberg, Class of 1969. Chuck was past president of the Alumni Scholarship Foundation. Linda is a member of the Alumni Scholarship Foundation Board and serves as the alumni historian. She was recognized for her energy, dedication, and commitment to the Alumni Association for the past 11 years.
Honorees took home their framed mementos and they will be immortalized in Washington’s corridor dedicated to the Hall of Fame.
Congratulations to the new Washington Hall of Fame members!
