Print-in-place Articulated Dragon!!
Huge, very flexible, and printed in one piece without supports. Just the mustache needs to be assembled after printing (see video example).
It can be scaled up or down as much as you want (the limit is your printer capabilities).
For resin printing, check out Uncle Jessy's video with lots of tips and recommendations.
For delicate prints, such as tiny sizes, metal sintering or just if you need extra strength for the horns, I've added the "Short Horns" version.
*Disclaimer: The Dragon doesn't stand upright. Some pictures have been taken using a metal wire stand for display purposes.
A good first layer is mandatory for the print to succeed. Be sure your printer is calibrated and you have good bed adhesion. I recommend a slow and thick first layer (8 mm/s and 0.3 mm).
Good layer cooling is also recommended, as it prevents curling and warping on overhangs.

Awesome model! Printed at 400% Details shared on my IG page tangent_enterprises
Simply amazing! Printed on a Prusa Mini using AMOLEN PLA 3D Printer Filament, PLA Filament 1.75mm Silk Black Shiny Red Gold Filament (from Amazon(
Printed at 100% scale with Eryone Mini Rainbow silk PLA. 0% infill, it didn't need any. I used a 0.2 layer height (0.3 for the first layer) with a 0.6mm nozzle on my CR-10. There appears to be one of the dorsal/spinal fin/things that is thinner my slicer tolerated; I should probably have used the "print thin walls" option.
It came out about 10 inches long at this scale!
Had similar issue with first layer not sticking as well. Applied a little stick glue and raised Ender 3 nozzle temperature to 210° and the bed temperature to 69°. Happy printing.
Resin print - Anycubic Photon Mono
3djake magic pla. 75% 1.5 lh. 0.4 NozzleX
Curled in hand, then guarding the nightstand Printed at 100%, no supports(!), 20% infill, 0.12mm layer height. Printing took over 30 hours but it was worth it! I printed it with a raft because the bed is rather uneven and wanted to ensure good adhesion. It was a bit of work taking it off the raft, but doable (used 0.4mm airgap) The articulations work great, it's extremely flexible. Lovely!
Very nice, i like your designs, Keep upt the good work.
printed on my MK3S+ with the MMU2S
Amazing print! Sculpt is beautiful and this guy is so fun to play with.
Amazing Dragon! "Ryu-jin" Japan.
Love can't begin to describe how much I like this model! Every step along the way was fun and exciting.
Printed with a quick-change rainbow PLA on a modified Tronxy X5SA.
Thank you for this design, printed on Elegoo Mars 2 Mono with Blue Elegoo Resin, turned out amazing! Great work!
Hi! so I've printed this twice, and both times now the horns have snapped off. everything prints fine otherwise. any advice i can get?
black ended before the print was finished so continued with white... it actually looks legit xDD
Superb model. I printed mine out in shiny gold PLA and it turned out great.
Would love a version of this without legs! Printed on my Lotmaxx CH-10 with esun eco resin mixed w/ tenacious
Amazing file!! Great work!! This dragon is fun to print and articulates perfectly. Awesome details and scales hide the joints. Im having so much fun printing this.
First model I've purchased and it was absolutely worth it! Printed him at .16mm layer height out of MatterHackers Quantum PLA. No supports, 5% infill. New glass bed caused a little too much adhesion but the print is surprisingly strong and put up with me pulling and prying at each segment to free it. Well done!
Printed one at 50% scale and one at 142% (the largest scale that would fit on the bed). Great model!! I used a brim on the small one; that was 'fun' to clean ;)

First print
Looks really good, even with the forced filament change.
Really nice print. It took a few tries to get the settings right for good adhesion. After a few failed prints, I ended up with a wide brim (pictured) and running the first few layers at 60% speed to make sure it stuck.
Turned out great with rainbow silk PLA.
finish my printing with 53cm but the last 10 pieces are untied. what I do wrong? how I can fix it? thank you
More dragons, a couple at 200% and one at 150%
Printed with Matter Hackers Quantum PLA
Glitter red Green blue quantum Teal
Kudos for this nicely designed dragon. Printed my first one at 90% with PLA+ (0.12mm) on Sidewinder X2. Came out smooth and pretty.
Great model! I printed it with an Elegoo Saturn at 80% using a mix of Elegoo standard grey and white resin. I used the default slicer settings (Chitubox) and got a good print the first time. I did watch Uncle Jesse's video and saw how hard it was to remove the finished piece from the build plate without breaking. So. I used a single edge razor blade to remove most of the body and legs from the plate. All the joints work perfectly!
fantastic design! I printed it at 100% using gizmodorks glow in the dark PLA. The white washes out a bit of the details, but up close this thing looks super amazing.
Printed on my Ender 3 Pro with Prusament Mystic Brown at 230° for a beautiful glossy look
Printed this with Prusament Mystic Brown at 230° is a feast for your eyes. Love the model!
Beautiful model/print, got it first time with a brim. The brim removal was a little annoying, and adhesion seemed great. Love the Rainbow silk PLA! Next attempt, as big as the bed with fit with no brim!
Second dragon was printed! Thanx! One for home and one for office =)
Awesome design! I printed this piece with co-extrusion filament blue / green by Formfutura. Came out great! Thanks for sharing!
My first ever 3d print and a resin print , super happy with it thanks for making this available to us , my young bloke is very happy . Printed on the creality halot-one cheers
Nice design, i love it !!! +1 Now printing the snake.
Printed in Matterhackers Gold/Silver Quantum PLA and Proto-Pasta Empire Strikes Black.
Gorgeous print in liqcreate composite-x at 50% scale. The last few links at the end of the trail and 3 of the legs fused together.
Turn out amazing. manual colour change
My wife wanted one printed a bit smaller so I did one at 60% for her I'm waiting on a special roll for the one I want 115% scale
Came out super clean!
this thing is so cool!!!! come check out my stream on twitch... just look for king3dznutz...i'm addicted to 3d printing
What a brilliant design. Thank you for creating this little guy. Printed perfect the first time with PETG in Mystic Blue. Looking forward to trying another in rainbow silk PLA.
Took a few fails to get it printed with this silk white pla but it looks amazing at 110% scale
Nexa 3D NXE400 printer in xCE-White at 108% scale, print time was 40 minutes. Broke 3 legs when removing from the build plate, will be an easy fix. Joints were flexible and the model moved nicely.
Awesome! This printed fantastic. It might be the coolest print so far!
the dragon keeps lifting off the bed, have tried various glues (including Bed Weld) and changed settings. Am using a plexiglas-encased Creality Ender 5. But with 7 trials so far, none of the foundation parts have held. Do you have any suggestions I've not tried?
I wish I had a better printer. Mind-blowing! Really awesome.
Took a bit of experimenting to get sufficient adhesion but it was well worth it. Great model and worth every penny. Printed on a mildly upgraded ender 3 with pla on painters Tape and gluestick for ~17h
Absolutely love this model and how the prints are coming out! Also glad I didn't have to scale it down on my mini to print!
Awesome model! Me and my daughter went full dragon with some leftover filament. The large dragon is printed at 165% on an Ender 3 Max (300x300)
I just printed this dragon and removed it with the raft and can't remove the raft fully, I've never used a raft so can you tell me how to remove the dragon from the raft
This was my first print project other than test owls. I am amazed how well it turned out!!! I did have to put a little effort to remove from the glass but I have upgraded to the magnetic PEI spring steel sheet.
Printed amazing! 60% size, no infill, took me about 3h (did wall line count = 4 on Cura for extra stability). So in love with the design, the details are very impressive! Edit: I didn't use a raft, had no problems printing on the bed directly
v2 using greengate3d Purple Reign PET-G
This is my 2nd dragon print and my first attempt at Changing color mid print
Amazing model. Printed directly on the plate on a Phrozen Sonic Mini 8k in resin at 49% scale. Fully articulated from the get-go, everything popped off the standard build plate easily but the feet had to be taken off a bit more carefully with a razor scraper. Made an effort to fine-tune my settings beforehand, and calibrated with Cones of Calibration before printing. Used an approximate mix of 90% Siraya Tech ABS-like Navy Gray and 10% Siraya Tech Tenacious. Settings were: Layer height: .05mm Bottom layer count: 6 Exposure time: 2.15s Bottom Exposure time: 25s (IMPORTANT: Allowed enough stick but not so much it broke coming off the plate) Transition Layers: 5, linear Rest time before lift: 0s Rest time after lift: 0s Rest time after retract: 2s (IMPORTANT: Eliminates elephant foot by reducing the outward squish on the bottom layers, which when not addressed causes smaller articulations to fuse on the bottom. BOTTOM TOLERANCE COMPENSATION: a: -.3mm; b: -.25mm. This also helps to eliminate the elephants foot significantly. Used digital calipers to measure the elephants foot on a similar print to find these, so they may change for you. Remaining settings were the recommended settings from Siraya Tech. Hope this helps someone!
Our 1st Official Print. I Love It. Thank you!
100% scale, red-yellow-blue coextruded PLA. Printed it on a raft to keep the segments from detaching from the print bed.
Printed on Anycubic Photon Mono X 6k and it moves awesomely. Silver spray prime with paint and drybrushing
15h 45min Ender 5 with microswiss direct drive and all metal hot end. Some issues with curling but came out good in my books
Eryone red, yellow, blue triple colour PLA filament
Fantastic design. Beautiful and prints well. At first I was not sure I would be able to print it, as I have a 3 year old unmodified Ender3 pro. Only thing I have done is renewed the bed as I wore it out. Even the nozzle is the original and I have done 100's of prints including lots of McGybeer's creations. So I did my best manual levelling, and printed a calidragon as a test. I adjusted the settings as recommended to have 8mm/s initial layer over 3 layers. And I watched the purge and skirt and adjusted the offset manually using the knobs. 15 hours later I am so impressed. First time print with no issues. I learnt something, no need for glue stick or a very close nozzle for these flexible prints (I was finding they sometimes released from the bed about half way), just turn down the speed on the initial layers. Printed in a basic bronze PLA from Clas Ohlson.
This is by far the most requested item I make for family, friends, neighbors grand kids, myself.... I recently purchased a roll of YOUSU Black Glow In The Dark Starry Sky and at my stepdaughters request this the first print in the new color. It finished just at bedtime and I put a bright LED light on it for a few minutes before bringing it into her room. I almost didn't bring it in - this color is UNREAL on this model. The picture doesn't do it justice but the glow in the dark speckles give it depth and movement in the dark that's mesmerizing. I'll be printing more of these in this color....
I love this design, I've printed so many copies of it. I recently picked up a roll of YOUSU Black Glow In The Dark Green Starry Night and this model is unreal in that filament. The first one just finished tonight and I couldn't stop playing with it in the dark. Love it!
Printed for a friend after having the model for a year.
The best articulated dragon out there! I've done several color combinations.
Work of art. Challenge to do research on coloring a dragon. Benevolent mythical beast. Impressed with the fine art of the artist. Thank you.
