John Romita Sr. Wife: Who Is Virginia Romita?
John Romita Sr. was a renowned comic book artist who worked for Marvel Comics during the 1960s and 1970s.
He was best known for his work on iconic characters such as Spider-Man, Daredevil, and the X-Men.
However, behind every great man is a great woman, and John Romita Sr.’s wife was no exception.
Who Is Virginia Romita?
Virginia Romita, also known as “Virg,” was John’s wife of over 60 years. She was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1933 and grew up in a family of artists.
Her father was a painter and her mother was a fashion designer. Virg herself had an interest in art from a young age and attended the High School of Music & Art in New York City.
Virg met John when they were both working at Timely Comics (which later became Marvel Comics). They fell in love and got married in 1954.
Virg supported John’s career as an artist by helping him with his work. She would often ink his pencil drawings and help with lettering.
In addition to her work with John, Virg also had her own career as an artist. She worked as a freelance illustrator for various publications, including The New Yorker magazine.
She also created illustrations for children’s books and greeting cards.
Virg was not just an artist but also a devoted wife and mother to their two children, John Jr. and Kristin. She supported John throughout his career, even when he left Marvel to work for DC Comics in the late 1970s.
Sadly, Virg passed away in 2018 at the age of 85 due to complications from pneumonia. Her legacy lives on through her artwork and the impact she had on her family’s lives.
