Djibouti (May 10, 2024) – Sailors from Maritime Expeditionary Squadron (MSRON 10), assigned to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, participated in a man overboard drill and provided maritime security during Exercise Bull Shark 24-2 on May 5, 2024. The Conquistadors of VR-57 is a Naval Reserve Force squadron comprised of active duty and selected reserve personnel. The squadron provides around-the-clock, Navy unique fleet essential airlift support to Fleet and Combatant Commanders world wide.

VR-57 are part of a team that is entrusted to safely execute responsive, flexible, and rapid deployable C-40 Clipper air logistics support to the Fleet and Combatant Commanders worldwide.  

In August 2005, VR-57 transitioned from the C-9B to the C-40A Clipper.  The squadron operates three Boeing C-40A Clipper (the military version of the Boeing 737-700C) aircraft. Each aircraft is normally manned with a crew five to six aircrewmen and is capable of carrying 121 passengers or 8 pallets of cargo, or a combination of 3 pallets and 69 passengers.

WASHINGTON (May 19, 2023) -- Vice Adm. John Mustin, Chief of Navy Reserve and Commander, Navy Reserve Force announced the selection of CTR1(IW/EXW) Lewis McClintock, as the 2022 Navy Reserve Sailor of the Year. Petty Officer McClintock is from San Diego, Calif., currently assigned to NR C10F NIOCHI NIC (CNIFR). As a result of his selection, CTR1 McClintock will be recommended to the Chief of Naval Personnel for meritorious advancement to the rank of chief petty officer.

The Ombudsman program has been around since 1970 when then Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Elmo Zumwalt issued the first Navy Family Ombudsman Program Instruction which adapted the concept of a spouse-to-spouse agent and representative for the command’s families. When Ens. Shanice Proctor graduated from Officer Development School in November 2021 she became a Navy Reserve Officer, but this was far from her first experience with the Navy. 

In her civilian career she is the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Technical Lead and a Peer Mentor. As the technical lead she often finds herself working with Sailors and their systems. In fact, it was this interaction that partially inspired her to join the Navy Reserve.

The Navy Reserve has many officers who were prior enlisted service members. However, very few enlisted Sailors are prior military officers. Personnel Specialist 2nd Class Sukwon Jung holds the distinction of being part of that very small group.

Jung was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to Dublin, Ireland when he was 11 years old. He attended middle school, high school, and university in Ireland before moving back to South Korea. In November, 2009, Jung commissioned as an interpretation officer in the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN). During his time in the ROKN, Jung served tours of duty for ROKN Naval Special Warfare where he worked in partnership with U.S. Navy SEALS.

Roughly 60 Navy hospital corpsmen participated in Operation Commanding Force, the annual two-week training exercise, at Fort Drum. The culminating event on July 21 included practicing tactical field care and medical evacuation procedures with reservists going through a litter obstacle course. The training was supported by cadre from the Bridgewater-Vaccaro Medical Simulation Training Center (MSTC), the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade’s 3rd General Support Aviation Battalion (DUSTOFF) and medics from 1st Brigade Combat Team and 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
