How Cefuroxime works
Cefuroxime is a bactericidal antibiotic. It binds to the bacterial cell wall and interfere with the bacterial cell wall synthesis. This weakens the bacterial cells and causes lysis of the bacteria, leading to bacterial cell death and decrease in spread of infection.

- dizziness
- diarrhoea
- nausea
- stomach pain
- increased type of white blood cells (eosinophilia)
- increase in liver enzyme

- severe, persistent uncontrollable diarrhea (pseudomembranous colitis)
- severe allergic reactions, skin rashes and blistering and peeling of skin with fever, swelling of body parts, muscle pain
- fungal infection of mouth, genitals, etc.

- Cefuroxime must be taken with meals
