INTRODUCTION ABOUT ACULAR LS EYE DROPS

ACULAR LS EYE DROPS contains Ketorolac which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS). It is used to reduce eye pain, inflammation, burning or stinging sensation that occurs after corneal refractive surgery. Corneal refractive surgery also called LASIK is done to correct the spectacle power of the person and improve vision.

Your doctor may recommend you to take some relevant medical tests to understand your existing condition. Do not use ACULAR LS EYE DROPS while wearing contact lenses. If you use contact lenses, you should remove your contact lenses before using ACULAR LS EYE DROPS. You can put them back after 15 minutes of using ACULAR LS EYE DROPS.

Before using ACULAR LS EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you have bleeding tendencies (Ex. anaemia or stomach ulcers), diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, dry eye syndrome, had or have eye surgery recently, bacterial or viral eye infections and asthma due to prior use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (such as nepafenac eye drops).

ACULAR LS EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding woman unless recommended by the doctor. ACULAR LS EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in children and can be used in elderly patients only if advised by the doctor.

The common side effects of using ACULAR LS EYE DROPS are eye irritation, stinging or burning sensation the eye, eye pain, allergic reaction, puffiness or swelling of eye or eyelid, red and itchy eyes. Consult your doctor if any of the side effect worsens or does not improve.

USES OF ACULAR LS EYE DROPS

  • Reduces eye pain, inflammation, burning or stinging sensation that occurs after corneal refractive surgery

HOW ACULAR LS EYE DROPS WORKS

[GBKEYWORD] works by blocking the effects of prostaglandin (substance produced during injury and inflammation causing pain), pain signals between the brain and nerve endings. The inhibition of these substances results in reduced pain and inflammation thus relieves the condition.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Use ACULAR LS EYE DROPS as advised by your doctor. It is for ophthalmic use only. Shake the bottle before use. Tilt your head slightly backwards and gently pull the lower eyelid to form a small pocket, hold the bottle upside down above the eye and dispense drops with gentle pressure into the affected eye, then close your eyes for 30 seconds. Do not touch dropper tip to your eye surface. Your doctor will decide the correct duration and time interval between each dose for you depending upon your age and severity of the condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF ACULAR LS EYE DROPS

COMMON

  • eye irritation, stinging or burning sensation the eye
  • eye pain
  • allergic reaction
  • puffiness or swelling of eye or eyelid
  • red and itchy eyes
  • infection or inflammation of the eye either on the surface or inside
  • retinal bleeding, swelling in the central retina (light-sensitive layer of the eye)

UNCOMMON

  • inflammation or damage to the clear front layer of the eye
  • dryness or watery eyes

RARE

Stop using ACULAR LS EYE DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • severe eye pain
  • increased eye irritation or vision changes
  • corneal problems (outermost see-through layer of the eye)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Eye Irritation Or Itching

Close your eyes and relax for some time. Place an ice pack over the closed eyes for few minutes. Avoid watching mobile phone, laptop, or any other light sources which might irritate your eyes. If the symptom persists or worsens, consult your doctor.

Headache

Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Try to take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Apply a pain-relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Massage on your scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice if headache doesn’t improve.

ALLERGY

Contraindicated

Do not use ACULAR LS EYE DROPS if you are allergic to Ketorolac, aspirin or any other similar drugs.

LUNGS

Use with Caution

ACULAR LS EYE DROPS should be used with caution in patients with asthma particularly after using non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) such as nepafenac. Consult with your doctor before using it.

USE IN PEDIATRICS

Contraindicated

ACULAR LS EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in children. Consult child’s doctor for advice before administration of ACULAR LS EYE DROPS.

USE IN GERIATRICS

Use with Caution

ACULAR LS EYE DROPS can be used in elderly patients. Consult your doctor for advice before using ACULAR LS EYE DROPS.

OTHERS

ACULAR LS EYE DROPS is not recommended for use if you

  • have planned surgery within 24 hours

Before using ACULAR LS EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you:

  • have stomach ulcers or bleeding tendencies (Ex. anaemia)
  • have diabetes
  • have rheumatoid arthritis
  • have dry eye syndrome
  • have or had eye surgery recently
  • have viral or bacterial infections of the eye
  • have corneal denervation (dysfunction of corneal innervation)
  • have corneal epithelial defects (loss of focal areas in the outermost layer of the eye)

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug - Drug interactions:

Before using ACULAR LS EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you are using or taking any of the following medicines:

  • ophthalmic corticosteroids such as dexamethasone, loteprednol (used to manage eye inflammation)
  • heparin, coumarin or indandione derivative such as warfarin (medicines that manage or manages blood clot)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone accidentally ingests or use too much of ACULAR LS EYE DROPS, first wash your eyes with water to flush out the excess medicine and drink fluid to dilute the medicine (in case of ingestion) and then consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
