MONTAIR BL TABLET is a combination medication containing Bilastine and Montelukast. It is used to manage allergy symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and itchy eyes, as well as to reduce the symptoms of asthma.
The dosage of MONTAIR BL TABLET should be prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken once daily with or without food. Follow the instructions on the prescription label carefully. Before taking MONTAIR BL TABLET inform your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney disease, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to Bilastine, Montelukast, or any other ingredients in this medication.
MONTAIR BL TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with hereditary problems such as galactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption (inability of the body to absorb glucose and galactose sugars), and Lapp lactase deficiency (lactose intolerance). The medicine is also not indicated for use in patients suffering from acute asthmatic attacks.
The most common side effects associated with the use of MONTAIR BL TABLET are headache, abdominal pain, dry mouth and drowsiness. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.
The combination of Bilastine and Montelukast works synergistically to address both the cause and symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Bilastine blocks histamines, preventing the allergic reaction that leads to sneezing, itching, and a runny nose. Montelukast reduces airway inflammation by inhibiting leukotrienes, substances that trigger nasal swelling and mucus production.
MONTAIR BL TABLET works by reducing inflammation and minimizing the body’s reaction to allergens. It helps to manage the recurrence of allergy symptoms, providing lasting protection throughout the allergy season. It helps reduce the likelihood of such issues by controlling nasal congestion and airway inflammation.
MONTAIR BL TABLET helps reduce asthma exacerbations caused by allergens such as pollen, dust mites, and mold. By controlling airway inflammation and reducing mucus production, also improves airflow, making breathing easier for patients with asthma or reactive airway diseases. Regular use of MONTAIR BL TABLET helps stabilize airways, reducing the likelihood of nighttime asthma attacks and ensuring uninterrupted sleep.
MONTAIR BL TABLET provides relief from allergic rhinitis where Bilastine works by blocking histamine (chemical messenger responsible for allergy), thus managing the occurrence of allergic symptoms, and Montelukast works by inhibiting the action of leukotrienes (chemicals responsible for inflammatory reactions), thus managing its occurrence and providing relief from associated symptoms of allergic rhinitis in affected individuals.
Taking more than the prescribed dose of MONTAIR BL TABLET may result in side effects such as:
Like all medicines, MONTAIR BL TABLET may cause certain side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Consult your doctor about switching your dose timing to bedtime. Take short walks during the day to boost alertness. Practice stretching stimulate energy levels. Maintain a consistent sleep schedule, aiming for 7-8 hours of rest. If drowsiness persists or worsens, consult your doctor to adjust the dosage or explore alternative medications.
Sip water frequently throughout the day. Carry a water bottle to ensure consistent hydration. Opt for ice chips for a refreshing way to stay hydrated. Eat foods with high water content, such as cucumbers, melons, and oranges. Avoid salty, spicy, or overly dry foods, which can irritate the mouth.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Avoid caffeine or sugary drinks, as they can sometimes exacerbate symptoms. If the headache is caused by tension, a warm compress on the neck and shoulders can help relax muscles and relieve pain. Lie down in a quiet, dimly lit or dark room. Practice deep breathing or mindfulness to relax.
Stick to a bland diet, including foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast (the BRAT diet). Avoid spicy, fried, or acidic foods that may irritate the stomach. Place a hot water bottle or a warm towel on your abdomen for 15-20 minutes. Repeat as needed throughout the day.
Animal and Human studies shows that MONTAIR BL TABLET did not show teratogenic effects. There are no sufficient studies in pregnant women to confirm, hence it should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefits justify the potential risks to the fetus. It is generally recommended to avoid antihistamines unless necessary during the first trimester.

A: It is essential to consult your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant or planning to conceive.
A: It is a combination medication primarily used to manage allergic rhinitis (seasonal or perennial allergies) and asthma. Bilastine is a non-sedating antihistamine that helps relieve symptoms like sneezing, itchy or runny nose, and watery eyes. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that reduces inflammation in the airways, making it effective for asthma and allergy-related symptoms.
A: Follow your healthcare provider's instructions for dosage and timing, especially if taking other medications.
A:While most people tolerate this combination well, some may experience mild side effects, including Drowsiness or dizziness (more common with Bilastine, though it is less sedating than other antihistamines), Headache or stomach discomfort, Coughing or sore throat (Montelukast) or Mood changes (rare, but associated with Montelukast).
