RELENT COLD SYRUP is a combination of Phenylephrine and Chlorpheniramine which belongs to the group of medicines called Nasal decongestants and Antihistamines respectively. It is used to relieve nasal and sinus congestion, allergic symptoms of the nose or throat due to upper respiratory tract allergies, sinus pain and headache. Also, it is used adjunctly with antibacterials to manage sinusitis (inflammation of the tissue lining the sinuses), tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils) and otitis media (middle ear infection).
Before giving RELENT COLD SYRUP to your child, inform child’s doctor if your child has kidney, liver or heart problems, diabetes, fits or severely raised blood pressure. RELENT COLD SYRUP is not recommended for use in pregnant or breast-feeding women and elderly patients as it is used only in children.
The most common side effects of RELENT COLD SYRUP are nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, dizziness and tiredness. Consult your child’s doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

RELENT COLD SYRUP relieves cold symptoms where Phenylephrine decreases nasal congestion by acting on α1-adrenergic receptors in the small vessels of the nasal mucosa to produce constriction, resulting in decreased swelling and increased drainage of the sinus cavities and Chlorpheniramine binds to the histamine H1 receptor and blocks its action, resulting in temporary relief of the negative symptoms (runny nose, sneezing, watery and itchy eyes) brought on by histamine.
Give RELENT COLD SYRUP to your child as advised by the physician. Shake well before use. Use a measuring cup to properly measure the dose. Your child’s doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of RELENT COLD SYRUP for your child depending upon child’s age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop giving RELENT COLD SYRUP to your child and contact doctor immediately if your child experiences any of the following side effects:
Tell your child to sip water regularly and other sugar free liquids. Tell your child not to use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can make your mouth dry, use mouthwash that is used only for dry mouth. Limit your caffeine intake. Consult child’s doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your child’s head. Advise your child to take rest in a quiet room. Massage child’s scalp or head with mild pressure for relieving effect. Consult child’s doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Follow simple meal plan for your child while administering RELENT COLD SYRUP. Avoid giving foods that are oily, fried or spicy foods. Do not let your child to lie down or sleep immediately after eating. Consult child’s doctor if the symptom does not improve.
RELENT COLD SYRUP is not recommended for use in pregnant women as it is used only in children. Consult your doctor for advice.

Do not let your child ride bicycles or drive other vehicles or operate any tools if your child experiences dizziness, drowsiness and sedation after taking RELENT COLD SYRUP.
RELENT COLD SYRUP should be used with caution in children with kidney failure. Consult your child’s doctor for advice before administration of RELENT COLD SYRUP to your child.
RELENT COLD SYRUP should be used with caution in children with liver impairment. Consult your child’s doctor for advice before administration of RELENT COLD SYRUP to your child.
Talk to your child’s doctor if your child is allergic to Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine or any other ingredients of this medicine.
RELENT COLD SYRUP is not recommended for use in children with severely high blood pressure. RELENT COLD SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with any other cardiovascular problems. Consult your child’s doctor for advice before administration of RELENT COLD SYRUP to your child.

Overdosage:
If your child accidentally takes too much of RELENT COLD SYRUP, contact your doctor immediately or visit a nearby hospital. Overdosage symptoms of RELENT COLD SYRUP includes extreme sleepiness, confusion, weakness, ringing in the ears, blurred vision, large pupils, dry mouth, flushing, fever or possibly seizures.

A: If you forget to give a dose of RELENT COLD SYRUP to your child, give it as soon as you remember. However, omit the missed dose if it is almost time for the next one. Do not give the medicine two times to make up for the forgotten dose.
A: Continue giving RELENT COLD SYRUP to your child until your child’s doctor tells you to stop, unless your experience child’s any unwanted effects, worsening of the condition or any new symptoms. In such cases, contact your child’s doctor right away.
A: Before giving RELENT COLD SYRUP to your child, you must inform child’s doctor about their pre-existing conditions like any kidney, liver, heart or thyroid problems, diabetes, fits or severely raised blood pressure and any other allergies. Consult your child’s doctor if your child experiences anything different.
A: Before giving RELENT COLD SYRUP to your child, inform your child’s doctor if your child is taking, have taken or might take any other medicine, including prescription, non-prescription or any herbal medicines, as these might interact with each other and cause serious side effects.
A: RELENT COLD SYRUP should be used with caution in children with liver impairment. Child’s doctor may monitor your child’s liver function before and during management with this medicine to manage the risk of any unusual effects.
