A six-year-old girl, who sustained bullet injury to her head on the rooftop of their house in Narayanganj on Friday amid the violence during the students’ protests for quota reform in the government job, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday. 

The deceased, Riya Gope, died while undergoing treatment at the DMCH.


Riya’s father, Dipak Kumar Gope, said that she went to the rooftop of their four storey house at Nayamati in Narayanganj, where she was hit by bullet in the head.

He also added that the bullet came from the top.

The DMCH police outpost in-charge Bacchu Mia said that Riya was admitted to the hospital with gunshot injury at about 10:00pm on Friday, which left her brain injured and multiple times cardiac arrest.

Narayanganj Sadar police station officer-in-charge, Shahadat Hossain, in this regard, said that he was not aware of who conducted operation from sky on the day or any case was filed or not.
