How hospitals can help end homelessness
Although it may seem counterintuitive, hospitals release people experiencing homelessness back to the streets all the time, according to Dr. Richard Bryce of Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Perhaps they’re treated for a leg infection, then returned to the cold concrete that caused the wound. Chances are they will end up in the hospital again, he said. Indigent care costs taxpayers more than $70 million annually in Denver, and that number is going up now that a sales tax has been approved to benefit the hospital.

This little pup, who is only fourteen pounds, has been waiting over a month for his forever family to find him and is hoping he'll be home in time for the holidays. At about four years old, the local animal rescue explains that Kader’s rescue story is a sad one. “He was found unconscious (with a embedded harness) by his foster's mom son in a parking lot. The finder brought Kader to the emergency room where he stayed overnight. If it hadn't been for the finder's kindness, Kader wouldn't be alive anymore.”
