Girl Scout Cookies S’mores

The production of S'mores Girl Scout cookies are in short supply as a major bakery is having trouble delivering orders of the cookies due to lack of ingredients and labor.

Take a deep breath: It’s not Thin Mints.

S’mores Girl Scout cookies are in short supply as a major bakery is having trouble delivering orders due to lack of ingredients and labor.

The slow-down in production appears to be coming from Little Brownie Bakers, a Louisville, Ky., facility known for baking Girl Scout cookies for decades.

The facility is one of two major suppliers for the cookies. The extent of the supply chain issues and whether other cookie brands were affected is unclear.

“We anticipate some councils will be largely unaffected, while other councils and girls may not reach their cookie goals,” Kelly Parisi, a spokeswoman for Girl Scouts USA, told Fast Company in a statement. “Girl Scouts of the USA is working with our baker to mitigate the impact to councils, troops, girls and customers.”

A spokesperson for Little Brownie Bakers confirmed the slowdown in production.

According to a YouGov poll, Thin Mints are the most popular Girl Scout cookie, with 24% of respondents saying the chocolate-mint combination cookie was their favorite.

That same poll found that only 3% of Americans consider S’mores their favorite.

Still, the lingering supply chain issues could affect local Girl Scout troops, who rely on cookie sales for programs, financial assistance, troop support and rewards.
