The Highland-Triton wrestling team took first place in the team race at the Bart Payne Holiday Tournament in Haddon Township.
Highland-Triton finished with 149 points, narrowly edging out second-place Gateway-Woodbury’s 144 points.
Owen Kulb and Michael Williams led the charge for Highland-Triton as Own Kulb took first in the 120-pound bracket, while Williams took the top spot at 144. Owen Kulb earned the title with a 10-0 major over Hightstown’s Jack Kane after beating Thomas Andrews (Haddon Twp) 8-2 in the semifinals. Williams won the 144 title match with a medical forfeit over Branden Palcko (Paul VI)
Highland Triton’s 106-pounder Chase McLernon pinned his with through the quarter and semifinals before falling to Dominic Marino (Cinnaminson) in the finals. Garrett Prendergrast (126), William Taylor (285) and Jordan Suiter (165) also finished in second.
Chris Kulb (106), Isaiah Garcia (132), Michael Simonelli (138), Xavier Velez (190) took third for Highland-Triton.
Gateway-Woodbury had five first place finishers in Chris Howarth (113), Dante Gismondi (126), Andres Cortes (150). Joey Toner (215), and Ike Shoulders (285).
