Sweet Home was officially renewed for season 2 (and season 3!) in June 2022, which Netflix announced via a visual teaser. On January 17, the streaming platform revealed that the long awaited season 2 of Sweet Home will premiere globally in the fourth quarter of 2023.
What’s going to happen in Sweet Home season 2?
Sweet Home director Eung-bok has previously stated that he wants to be faithful to the original webtoon the series is based on. Despite Lee’s intentions, the first season of Sweet Home notably featured numerous changes that were not in the source material, including some new characters and a tweaked storyline.
According to Netflix, the upcoming season of Sweet Home will involve new settings after our main character Hyun-soo’s (Song Kang) capture by the military, and the remaining survivors’ narrow escape from Green Home at the end of season 1. A new still shows Hyun-soo and Sang-wook (Lee Jin-wook) in the lobby of a never-before-seen building in the series.
Who are the actors joining the second season?
Netflix has confirmed that most of the main cast, namely Song Kang, Lee Si-young, Lee Jin-wook, Go Min-si and Park Gyu-young will be returning to season 2 of Sweet Home. Check out Netflix’s first still of Go Min-si as the headstrong former ballerina Lee Eun-yoo in season 2 below.
Meanwhile, her brother, the former medical student Lee Eun-hyuk (Lee Do-hyun) does not appear to be returning for season 2. While his ominous final scene in season 1 hinted at Eun-hyuk’s death, the fate of the beloved brainiac remains a mystery.
Sweet Home season 2 will also see the addition of new characters, who will change and challenge the existing dynamic between our survivors. New cast members include Yoo Oh-sung as special forces leader Tak In-hwan, Oh Jung-se (It’s Okay To Not Be Okay) as Doctor Lim, a vaccine researcher, as well as Kim Moo-yeol (Juvenile Justice) and B1A4’s Jung Jin-young as soldiers in the special forces.
In September 2022, it was reported that singer-songwriter BIBI would be make her K-drama debut in Sweet Home season 2. However, later that month it was reported that Bibi had dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
