Spinifex Motel has opened five new three-bedroom, upmarket and serviced apartments to complement its accommodation complex.
The apartments are to the rear of the existing motel complex, and allow access through to Maggies Bar and Bistro, which is now open to the public.
Spinifex Motel managers Alan and Lillian Cooper are confident that the slowdown that the accommodation industry and other business have experienced during the past few years would soon take a turn for the better, as it has done in the past.
“Talking to people that have lived in Mount Isa for many years, the town is not experiencing anything new,’’ Mr Cooper said.
‘‘Being a mining town it has always been a roller coaster, relying on the price of ore, who is mining it, and who is buying it.
“When you see large companies like Woolworths and Coles spending money upgrading their stores, and others acquiring land for development you have to assume that these guys know what they are doing, and would not be investing money in a town that is going to continue to go downhill.
“We all need to stay positive and be ready for when the good times return.”
