KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor arrived at the Selayang Court here today to face charges related to his statement which allegedly touched on the 3R (race, religion, royalty) issue in his political speech.
Sanusi, 48, clad in a white shirt and black pants, arrived at the court at 8.57 am.
The Perikatan Nasional election director had entered through the back entrance, evading the media who were waiting at the main door.
Earlier, his lawyer Datuk Shaharuddin Ali was seen arriving in court.
It was reported that Sanusi was arrested by the police at about 3am today at a hotel in Mont Kiara here and then taken in a police multi-purpose vehicle to the Gombak district police headquarters.
The incumbent Jeneri Assemblyman looked calm as he took a moment to smile at media members from the first floor of the court.
Media personnel had gathered at the court complex as early as 7am, awaiting for his arrival.
The crowd outside the court is also starting to build, with at least 50 supporters gathering near the compound.
Also seen were several leaders who arrived at the Selayang Sessions Court in solidarity of Sanusi, 48, who is being charged under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.
Among them include members of Parliament from Pendang Datuk Awang Hashim, Dr Abd Ghani Ahmad (Jerlun), Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (Besut).
