Serous Membranes Activity Label each of the two ovals as "lungs" and the circle as "heart". Draw a serous membrane around each organ. Remember that each serous membrane is actually one continuous membrane that doubles back on itself. It has a visceral layer and a parietal layer. As you draw each membrane, use a different color for its visceral portion and its parietal portion. Be sure to include serous cavities in your drawing. Label the parts of one pleural membrane and the pericardial membrane and cavities. This illustration represents a patient in the ER who has received a gunshot wound to the chest. The bullet has gone through one lung and penetrated the heart. Draw an arrow through your labeled membranes and organs to represent the path taken by the bullet. List, in order, the membranes, cavities, and organs through which the bullet has traveled to get to the heart.
