Mrs. Bond, 93 passed away peacefully on Saturday March 3, 2018 at Huron Woods Nursing Center following a brief illness. She was born in Port Huron on June 26, 1924 to the late Harold & Ella (McLean) Haken. She married Wilbert Bond on April 14, 1945 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1988. Helen was a member of the Kawkawlin Community Church and a former member of the Eastern Stars. She enjoyed playing cards, bingos and visiting and being with her family.
She is survived by her children William & Susan Bond, Thomas & Cindy Bond, Frederick & Charlene Bond & Peggy & Richard Lang; 10 grandchildren Melissa, Ashley, James, Jodie, Steven, Kristy, Angela, Jennifer, Tina and Richard; 12 great grandchild; a sister Marilyn & Anthony “Bud” Benzie and a brother Edward & Bridgett Smith. She was preceded in death by her siblings Betty Fredericks, Marion Senyk, William Haken, Richard Haken, Jerry Smith and Joe Smith.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday March 7, 2018 at 11 am from the Kawkawlin Community Church with Pastor Aaron Knapp presiding with burial in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. The family will greet visitors at the Rivertown Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 1 to 8 pm. On Wednesday Mrs. Bond will lie in State at the church from 10 am until time of services. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Kawkawlin Community Church or a charity of choice.
