Ruth Langsford has shown public support for her ex-husband Eamonn Holmes for the first time since their split. The pair announced in May that they were divorcing after 14 years of marriage.
Since then, Eamonn has moved on with a new love interest, but he showed support for Ruth, 64, during her emotional hospital visit to her mother, Joan, earlier this week. Now, it seems Ruth is returning the favour, responding to a post about Eamonn, 65, appearing on GB News. Isabel Webster, Eamonn's co-host, posted a picture of herself and the father-of-four on Instagram, captioned: "Final show from us for 2024. Thanks for your company this year. See you soon! Merry Christmas - I hope you all find some peace and joy."
Ruth liked the post, showing support for her former husband just days before they are set to spend Christmas apart. This follows Eamonn liking one of Loose Women star Ruth's posts where she shared an update on her mum.
In her post, Ruth wrote: "Hospital visit….thank you all so much for your lovely messages and well wishes for my darling Mum. She’ll be in hospital for a bit longer yet, but she’s in pretty good spirits considering and I hope she’ll be home for Christmas." The post received numerous likes from her celebrity friends, including one from Eamonn.
Ruth's mum was rushed to hospital after a fall, with Ruth later confirming the news in an Instagram post on Sunday. She shared: " No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas….she's had a fall and fractured her pelvis! She's ok…ish, no surgery required thank goodness but she needs rest and time to heal now. She's in hospital at the moment but I'm hoping to get her home soon. This time last year she fell and broke her hip but recovered well…she's a very strong woman so I'm sure she'll recover from this too. Puts life and what's important into perspective eh? Happy Christmas!”
In a new post, Eamonn expressed how much he missed his own mum, sharing: "When folk ask me 'What do u want for Christmas? ' Three Christmases without u now Mum and you are still top of my wish list.", reports the Mirror.
Despite reconnecting on social media, it's reported that Eamonn and Ruth are pushing forward with their divorce and eager to finalise things swiftly.
"The aim is for Eamonn and Ruth to resolve their divorce as quickly as possible in the New Year," a source told The Sun. They went on to say, "Ruth is keen to stay in their marital home as it is where she is settled, Eamonn on the other hand wants to get out and make a fresh start. They aren't dragging their heels and want this settled and done as quickly as possible."
