Sinéad O'Connor has announced the tragic death of her son Shane at age 17.
The 55 year old Nothing Compares 2 U singer revealed her son "decided to end his earthly struggle" on Friday 7 January in a series of heartbreaking tweets.
Shortly before sharing the news of Shane's tragic passing, Sinéad revealed her son had gone missing from Tallaght Hospital in Dublin on Thursday 6 January and shared an appeal for his return.
Mum-of-four Sinéad shared a message to her son, whom she has claimed was on suicide watch at the hospital, directly in a heartbreaking tweet.
She wrote: "This is a message for my son, Shane. Shane, it’s not funny any more all this going missing. You are scaring the c**p out of me.
"Could you please do the right thing and present yourself at a Gardai station. If you are with Shane please call the Gardai for his safety."
The singer then added in another post: "Shane, your life is precious.
"God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing.
"My world would collapse without you. You are my heart.
"Please don’t stop it from beating. Please don’t harm yourself. Go to the Gardai and let’s get you to hospital."
The concerned mum then hit out at Tallaght Hospital as she revealed her son was being supervised as he had tried to take his own life twice recently.
"I want to know why Lynn Ward at Taillight hospital who were supposed to have HCA’s supervise my child 24/7 have managed to let him out of their grasp this morning when 7 days ago he made two severe suicide attempts," she wrote.
Sinéad added: "Like, how has a seventeen year old traumatised young person WHO WAS ON SUICIDE WATCH in Tallaght Hosptial’s Lynn Ward been able to go missing???
"Hospital of course so far refusing to take any responsibility. Anything happens to my son on their watch? Lawsuits."
Sinéad then shared the tragic news of her son's death on her Twitter page with a tribute. She wrote: "My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.
"May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace".
The singer also posted a photo of her beloved teenage son, showing him looking at the camera.
She then shared a video of Bob Marley's song Ride Natty Ride and penned: "This is for my Shaney. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eye baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundary can separate us."
OK! has contacted Sinéad's representatives and Tallaght University Hospital for comment.
