Know Your Federal and Local Gun Laws
Purchasing a firearm online is subject to the same firearms laws as buying in a gun shop. Also, each state follows specific firearm regulations, so before buying your gun online be sure to consult the laws in your state-
- California firearms law includes a ten-day waiting period, and handgun buyers must pass a Firearm Safety Certificate test. California also bans magazines that hold more than ten rounds.
- Texas firearm laws require a license (LTC) to conceal or open carry handguns.
- Illinois requires gun owners to have a Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID) to possess firearms or ammunition legally.
- Florida requires a Concealed Carry Permit to conceal or open carry a handgun.
- Maryland requires those who buy a handgun to be licensed, have a permit to purchase and carry, as well as complete a registration process.
- Colorado residents must apply for a permit to carry concealed handguns.
Class 3 Firearms
Omaha Outdoors has the class 3 firearms for sale you’re looking for including packages with suppressors and unique, hard-to-find weapons. Contrary to popular belief, the road to purchasing this type of armament is complex but not impossible to navigate. The National Firearms Act (NFA) requires those who buy NFA firearms, such as a short-barreled rifle or shotgun, or suppressor to do so from an FFL SOT dealer. These are dealers who have attained Special Operations Tax status. That dealer then transfers the firearm or suppressor to an FFL SOT in your area, who then transfers it to you. There is a fee commonly known as a tax stamp paid with the firearm transfer.
The paperwork required for a class 3 firearm depends on whether the weapon is made, transferred from dealer to dealer or from dealer to consumer. To make a class 3 firearm, ATF Form 1 is required. Once approved by the ATF, the individual who applied for it can now make the weapon. An ATF Form 3 comes into play when one dealer transfers the class 3 firearm to another dealer, and the ATF Form 4 is used when the dealer transfers that weapon to the consumer.
Used Firearms
The ultimate in gun deals can be found at Omaha Outdoors as we have used firearms for sale at wallet-friendly prices. Used and collectible firearms are rock-solid investments because they are always in demand and rarely depreciate. We carry a full spectrum of guns used in product reviews or law enforcement trade-ins, so you know these weapons are tried and true. Also, if you are a connoisseur of arms, you have found your promised land as Omaha Outdoors will purchase rare and high-end used firearms which are sure to fill the empty space in your arsenal. Buying online has an advantage over private sales because the dealers handle the paperwork. If you choose to buy a firearm from a private seller, the law requires that both parties fill out a firearm bill of sale form to execute the sale.
After the Sale
Once you have your soon to be “old reliable” firearm in the shopping cart the next steps to having it in your hands are simple. First, you must locate a business in your area that holds a Federal Firearms License. Generally, any place of business that sells guns has an FFL license, such as a gun store or a pawn shop. If you are having trouble finding a location, Omaha Outdoors has an online FFL directory, powered by FFL Easy right on the main page for quick and convenient dealer search. When you have found a dealer near you, we will confirm their license status, and you can go ahead and give them a call and arrange delivery of your firearm package. Once this is completed, our handguns and suppressors are shipped UPS Next Day Air Saver and our long guns are shipped UPS Ground right to that location. All that’s left to do is anticipate your package’s arrival and when it does, go to the pick-up facility, fill out the necessary paperwork and pay the FFL dealer’s transfer fee.
Firearms Training
Owning a firearm opens the door to a whole world of shooting sports and hobbies. With firearms training comes knowledge, and with knowledge comes power, and most importantly, knowing how to unleash that power safely. Familiarizing yourself with your new gun by dry firing with snap caps is the first order of business, followed by many hours of target practice at the range. Local hunter’s safety courses and concealed carry classes do a great job in teaching gun owners the basics of firearm handling, shooting, and safety. But for those who want to elevate their shooting skills to a higher level, a professional firearms training course is the ticket to unrelenting accuracy and unbeatable performance. Real-world practical shooting, competition training, sharpshooting, and tactical firearm skills are available from some of the biggest names in marksmanship. Larry Vickers, Frank Proctor, Pat McNamara, and Robert Vogel all have websites devoted to training videos, classes, and products that will bring your shooting game up a few notches.
Fight For Your Gun Rights
“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” is the Second Amendment of the constitution that gives United States citizens the right to own a firearm. These gun rights are there for a reason, to provide you with the personal freedom to protect yourself, your family, and this country from those who wish to do harm. This amendment has been a hotbed of debate for years, fueled by ignorance of the law and misinformation about the firearms themselves. Our gun rights are threatened daily by those who fail to understand the impact gun control would have on our freedoms and safety. To protect this constitutional right, you can join advocacy groups such as Guns of America (GOA) or the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) to help restore firearm rights and stay on top of the fight with up to date gun rights news. It’s our responsibility as gun owners to protect these rights for our children and grandchildren so that the right to bear arms for protection, defense, and sportsmanship is intact for generations to come.
