USC Wide Receiver John Jackson III Enters Transfer Portal
USC wide receiver John Jackson III entered the NCAA transfer portal on Thursday, according to Matt Zenitz of On3.
Jackson arrived at USC in 2019 after using a greyshirt year as part of the 2018 recruiting class. Jackson played extensively on special teams throughout his USC career but was never quite able to push to the top of the wide receiver depth chart. He played in 40 games during his USC career, finishing it with five receptions for 42 yards. He had one reception for three yards against Tulane in the Cotton Bowl for USC. It was his only catch of the season.
Jackson’s USC ties run deep. His father, John Jackson II, was an All-Pac-10 First Team selection and set the USC career receptions record during his career from 1986-89. Jackson’s grandfather, John Jackson Sr., served as USC’s running backs coach and offensive coordinator for 6 seasons, from 1976-81. His sister is standout USC soccer player Simone Jackson.
Jackson is the fourth wide receiver to enter the transfer portal from the USC roster. C.J. Williams is now at Wisconsin and Kyle Ford made the move across town to UCLA. Gary Bryant Jr. is still uncommitted.

USC returns a strong group of wide receivers even with the transfers and the departure of Jordan Addison to the NFL Draft.
Tahj Washington, Mario Williams and Brenden Rice return as USC’s leading receivers and the Trojans added Dorian Singer via the transfer portal. USC also added talented early enrollee freshmen Zachariah Branch and Makai Lemon to the roster this spring. Michael Jackson III and Kyron Hudson return looking to make bigger impacts in 2023. And the group will add talented freshman Ja’Kobi Lane this fall.
