This rolled off the production line in December 1990. It's the pre-facelift 1st gen Celsior. This is the top of the line Grade C version which had air suspension, however the airbags in this one leaked and have been replaced by normal struts.

So I took out the ecu today. To my surprise it was in a pretty good shape and the capacitors haven't leaked yet. I'am still ordering them from digi-key US and plan to replace them as soon as possible before any damage takes place.

Scrap markets in UAE/Oman is filled with all types of parts for this car even Half cut JDMs celsior.

I'm not quite sure that this is the problem but I want to eliminate as many possibilities possible. I'am interested in getting a half cut. I'm planning to order some other parts as well to make it almost perfect.

Does it rev up in park, neutral or rev? If it does in any of these, then it could be a gearbox issue. And since there is no visible damage to the ecu, flash it and try again. Maybe the error goes away

the problem with this is that when in P or N, if I put my foot on the accelerator and keep it there the engine revs to 2000 then comes back to idle then revs to 2000 as if it is being cut off at 2000rpm. If I give 20-30% throttle in D it will go above 2000 rpm but starts jerking at 2200rpm. The gearbox shifts very smoothly, however due to the ecu I presume, it jerks then jumps when put into D when the car is still and the handbrake is on. The first jerk feels like Drive is engaged, the second is a jump like the car want to leap forward. I have noticed that before a gear in engaged when the car is still, the rpm rises by 100 and shortly after Drive or Reverse is engaged.

Lets hope that you are on the correct path. In the time being, why not look for a spare ecu from somewhere to check if it's actually the ecu with the problem or not. If spare parts wala are given a solid enough reference, they will allow you to borrow the ecu to check your car... It shall remove all doubts

My dad just came back from work. He met with the previous owner today. He has already tried another ECU with it and the symptoms were still there. So I guess I better play with the sensors now.

That's the problem. Even the qualified ones don't know anything about this car. I've also lost trust with many of them as I've had many bad experiences with my cressida. So now I've decided to work on both of these cars myself, especially on Celsior.
