MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo strengthened its roster ahead of the 2020 Philippine Football League (PFL) with the acquisition of Philippine Azkals midfielder Mario Javier “OJ” Clariño.
The Iloilo City-based football club unveiled Monday evening the transfer of Clariño, who spent his last two PFL seasons with the Stallion-Laguna Football Club.
Clariño will join Kaya-Iloilo’s powerhouse midfield lineup that also includes Negrense Jayson Panhay, Marwin Angeles and Arnel Amita.
The 30-year-old Clariño was the third addition for the Kaya-Iloilo heading into the 2020 PFL season after the signing of Daizo Horikoshi of Japan and Carlyle Mitchell of Trinidad and Tobago earlier this year.
Prior to his transfer, Clariño had three stints with Stallion-Laguna before having stops with the Pachanga-Diliman Football Club and the defunct Global Football Club.
The Oliver Colina-mentored Kaya-Iloilo is aiming to improve its runner up finish during the last three PFL seasons, where they placed behind champion Ceres-Negros FC, now known as United City Football Club./PN
