Details of when Parliament meets

The House of Representatives follows an agreed programme of days when MPs all meet in Parliament’s debating chamber.  The normal sitting days and hours are:

  Day of the week 

 Afternoon 

  Dinner break 

 Evening 

  Tuesday   2pm to 6pm   6pm to 7:30pm   7:30pm to 10pm
  Wednesday   2pm to 6pm   6pm to 7:30pm   7:30pm to 10pm
  Thursdays   2pm to 6pm   none   none

You can also get the Sitting Programme (and other events) placed in your personal calendar by viewing the Parliament calendar, filtering for House Business events and using the export calendar function.

Meeting under urgency and extended hours

Meeting times can change when Parliament meets under urgency or extended sitting hours. These can’t be anticipated, so they’re not shown in future calendar entries.  Calendar information about Parliament meeting under urgency or extended hours is updated at the time it is announced.
