7 Bible Verses That Will Blow Your Mind

As I begin this article, I have to confess that God’s word blows my mind all of the time. It is so full of wisdom, truth, hope, and encouragement, and I am inspired every time I read it. Nonetheless, there are certain passages that are extraordinarily incredible, so here are my top 7 Bible verses that will blow your mind.

Proverbs 25:2 “It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.”

What does this mean? What is the glory of God? Wow, there is so much to grasp in this one verse that I cannot even fathom it all. He knows everything, and it is amazing to read that the Lord reveals and conceals all things according to his will. Apparently, he makes known the things we need to know, but then kings (and us) sometimes have to search information out on our own as well. So this verse is one that just really makes me stop and think.

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

Here is another verse that just blows my mind, because the King of the universe wants me to approach him and call to him on my own. He is encouraging me to ask him questions and have a relationship with him, and then he will respond by telling me great and hidden things that I have not known before. The Lord is not distant from us, rather he yearns for a close walk and connection with us each day.

I Corinthians 2:9 “But, as it is written, ‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him’–”

I have a very vivid imagination, and yet this verse astounds me by saying that I cannot even imagine what God has prepared for me and for those of us that love him. How can this be? No eye has seen or ear has heard or heart imagined the blessings God has in store for his children. Wow! He is so good to us, and his love seems to compel him to bless us in extraordinary ways. I have experienced a great deal of his love for me already in my life, and yet this verse promises that there are even more blessings in store for us.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

This verse also blows my mind, because it tells and shows us how much God loves us. His love is so amazing that he was willing to send his only son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for my sins, so that I—and everyone who believes in him—will not perish in eternal condemnation but instead enjoy eternal life with him. What manner of love is this? The father loves us so much that he even adopts us into his family and calls us his sons and daughters.

Ephesians 3:20 “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us…”

God’s power, knowledge, and love is unending, and it amazes me to read about how he will use all of his resources to take care of his children. This verse tells me that he is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think or imagine he could do for us according to the power at work within us. But what does that mean? I cannot even comprehend the words that are written in this verse and much less understand how far God will go to provide for his children. The verse right before this one helps clarify things a little, as the author writes, “and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” So God wants us to know truly how much he loves us.

Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

We live in an age of reason and Scientific facts, and it is mind-blowing for most people to comprehend that there is a spiritual world at work around us at all times. The apostle Paul, though, is trying to open our eyes to the fact that we are waging a spiritual war each and every day. He reminds us that we are not wrestling against human beings; rather we are fighting against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers, and spiritual forces of evil in heavenly places. These are all hidden from our physical eyes, but yet we can see the damage and destruction caused by these dark forces all around us if we are in tune with Jesus Christ our Lord.

Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

Rounding off the last of my seven top verses that blow my mind is this one about faith. I chose it, because it truly seems like a paradox to equate faith with assurance and hope with conviction. How can this be? If we are hoping for something, how can that be faith? Or how can faith be the evidence of something we cannot see? It doesn’t seem to make sense, and yet that is exactly what God is saying in this verse. Faith is believing in what we hope for and in what we don’t see yet.

Conclusion

The Scriptures are full of verses that will blow your mind, because the God of the universe orchestrated and inspired every word written in it. I cannot even begin to tell you how alive and vibrant God’s word is to me, as you really need to read it for yourself to understand what I am talking about. I have read through the entire Bible multiple times, and every time I read a passage or even a few verses I gain new insights or encouragement.
