We are pleased to present this highly sought after 1997 Porsche 993 Turbo S finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Boxster Red special leather interior.  Representing the final evolutionary phase of the air-cooled 911 Turbo, the incredibly rare 993 Turbo S was produced through Porsche’s Exclusive department and limited to only 183 examples for the U.S.  Showing only 2,689 miles on the odometer while remaining entirely pristine, this museum-quality 993 Turbo S would be an absolute treasure in any world-class Porsche collection.

The Arctic Silver Metallic finish remains in excellent original condition with paint protective film applied over the entire front end (detailed images and paint meter readings are provided in the photo gallery).  Showcasing details unique to the Turbo S model, this 993 features air scoops behind the doors, a Porsche Exclusive rear wing, yellow painted brake calipers and a quad-tip exhaust.  This 993 retains its original silver 18” Turbo Twist wheels which are said to be in excellent condition with virtually brand-new Michelin Pilot Sport tires .

Inside, this 993 highlights an exquisite Boxster Red special leather interior with carbon fiber trim throughout the cabin.  Other unique details include Porsche crested headrests, an aluminum/carbon fiber shifter and handbrake lever, chromium plated instrument bezels with silver gauge dials and “Turbo S” carpet embroidery in the boot and on the rear seat backs.  Factory options selected for this example also include the following:

  • Electric Comfort Seats
  • Heated Seats
  • Cruise Control
  • Porsche CDR-210 CD Radio
  • Porsche Sound System
  • Alarm System
  • Electric Sunroof
  • Electric Windows
  • Bi-Xenon Headlamps with Cleaning System
  • Special Leather

This Turbo S carries an air-cooled 3.6 L twin-turbocharged flat-six engine which is factory enhanced by larger K-24 turbos, an additional oil cooler and some mechanical fine-tuning making for an impressive output of 424HP.   All four wheels are driven through a number’s matching 6-speed manual transmission allowing for an impressive 0-60 time of approximately 3.5 seconds.  Proper routine maintenance has always been observed and the seller indicates that one of the turbochargers was replaced in 2019 along with some other service items at an authorized Porsche dealership at a cost of approximately $9,200.  This 993 is reported to be in fantastic mechanical order with a full service recently performed.

The sale of this Turbo S will include the original books, tools and spare tire, a set of 2 keys, some service records and a clean title.  For any avid Porsche collector, this exceptionally well-preserved 993 Turbo S offers an incredible opportunity.

@Silver930 The $500 process is called Classic Technical Certificate or CTC ad yes it will include engine and transmission numbers. The PPS certificate will not. My older cars also have the previous COA which did include it.

  • Silver930 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@JAB12 Can you verify if the PPS from Porsche for the $500. will actually have a print out of Transmission and Engine #s someone said to me that Porsche does not do that anymore. Glad I have my cars with the nice older CoA.

  • JAB12 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

    @My911turbos Thanks for the notes.

  • JAB12 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@Scott_Ales the former COA is now called PPS, Porsche Production Specifications. Costs $110 and you get a certificate mailed by PCNA with the built specs of the car in question. Download the request form from Porsche.com and mail or fax it in. Yes fax.

The Porsche classic certificate is more complex, costs $500 and you have to send your car to a certified classic Porsche dealer for them to inspect in and issue the certificate. It’s a glorified PPI from Porsche. IMO the car offered here should have been put through the process at the hammer price it will close it should include everything, that said, it takes nothing away from the rarity and collectibility of this example.

@VladFerrariLI @JAB12 The oil issue is very common on a 993 Turbo and was fixed in the 996 models. A simple oil return line/check valve kit remedies the flaw - a quick google search will explain it, as I’m no mechanic. Had the same issue on my 3,800 mile 993TT until I installed the kit.

  • Scott_Ales (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@hayesproperties COA's are not available like before. Unless the process has changed in the last year. I attempted to get one last year about this time but was disappointed to hear they changed the program.

You can call your local Porsche dealer to get the skinny, but has become significantly more expensive and is a slow process. At least it was last year...

Anybody know if they still require the dealer to physically inspect the car now?

  • lee88 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@Two_tone_Tommy @Beeker1320 @Two_tone_Tommy is correct, this is definitely Boxster Red and not Flamenco Red. I formerly had a 993TT which was Arctic Silver w/ Flamenco Red interior. Actually extended leather thru Porsche Exclusive... literally everything from instrument dials to headliner covered in Flamenco Red leather. Flamenco is a much more "red" red... like lipstick red. Boxster Red has a more orange-ish, burnt sienna kinda tone as shown in these pics.

  • Two_tone_Tommy (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@Beeker1320 The Boxster was first offered in 1996 as a 1997 model . . . . and the Boxster-Red interior was indeed offered.

    Hi Seller

With only 2700 miles can you tell us more about number of owners, why it hasn't been driven? Do you have any original paperwork-window sticker, bill of sale? Have you ordered a COA?

    Any background info at all?

    Thanks

  • VladFerrariLI (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@JAB12 very common issue actually. When a turbo is blown oil bypasses it and goes to the exhaust.

  • JAB12 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@VladFerrariLI I understand no damage was caused but what was the reason and the solution? Oil inside the exhaust is not a common issue on aircooled Porsches and at the preservation state of this example it is even more uncommon. Thank you.

  • VladFerrariLI (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@JAB12 Client noticed that exhaust was smoking after start up and towed car to Porsche service. No fire or damage was caused.

  • VladFerrariLI (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

    @maineman you are correct sir

  • JAB12 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@VladFerrariLI Thank you for bringing this unique Porsche to this platform. I have been tracking this example since the days it was at Ryan Freedman and missed it by hours back then. Can you please explain the mechanical issue in Nov. 2019 and the reason for oil on the exhaust system? That is super dangerous, the car could have caught fire due to burning oil in and around the heat exchangers. I read all the service notes on the invoices but additional clarity would provide more insight. Thank you.
