A wonderful lens, very sharp and fantastic value. Love the colour renditions and I use it a lot for long exposures a lot because somehow, i get better colour even with an ND filter. auto focus is decent and manual focus is very smooth. recommend to all apsc pentax users.

I used this lens for the Single in Challenge for February 2025:
all month with F-E-T 17mm f4, on three very different cameras (GXR, X-T4, GFX)
firstly
, as a pancake lens, it could not be any less intrusive mounted on your camera body - however, being a manually-focuse

It's a fantastic lensthe perfect standard option for my KF body with an APS-C sensor. Compared to my trusty old FA 28-70mm F4 zoom on the same body, this lens is in a different league. The viewfinder is noticeably brighter thanks to the faster aperture, which also allows for a shallower depth of fi...

Purchased this lens solely on the basis of the ratings on this site. Found a good specimen on eBay for a very reasonable price. It's my first F series fixed focal length lens, and so far, I'm impressed. Tack sharp, quick & precise autofocus, spot on exposure, and the build quality seems quite goo...

Acquired this lens unintentionally
. In forty years of buying from B&H, they never made a mistake - until now. They had a nice-looking SMC Pentax-F 35-70mm F3.5-4.5 for $50 and wanting to try it, I ordered it. When I opened the box two days later a SMC Pentax-M 35-70mm F2.8-3.5 came out. Not ha...

Last autumn, I acquired this 135mm prime lens through a live-stream auction for merely 150 RMB (approximately $20 USD). Upon unboxing, I was struck by its compact yet precision-engin
eered metal construction with a satisfying heft. Initially intended as an economical solution to fill the telephoto ...

I ran across this lens in a used gear shop for $55.00 US. It was in mint condition and came with the original box, but the case was trashed out. I had never bothered to read any of the reviews on it since it was a "zoom" and I am a "prime" kind of snob with my vintage lenses.... With digital, I have...

Stunning. Absolute best 35mm format lens I have ever shot with. Wide open or stopped down it is sharp. It is tricky on crop sensor but if you take some time to nail the focus and DOF the results are simply stunning. Performance with film on the ME Super is also stunning in particular outdoors with c...

I purchased this Takumar zoom on eBay from a charity shop. Initially, I had my heart set on the Pentax SMC equivalent, but when this pristine example came up for less than half the price, I couldnt resist.
My first test shots were taken at Pikes Peak, Colorado, and I was pleasantly surprised by ...
| | SMC Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 XS Review |
Recently developed a fascination with the 40mm 'pancake' lenses Pentax offers, and initially had my sights set on the DA Limited; used ones in suitable condition can be had for around $150. I found a new in box XS on eBay for not much more than that, and convinced myself that a unused example of th...
