Yemaya goddess

Once upon a time, radiantly rising from the healing deep waters of the Atlantic ocean, was the Goddess Yemaya.

Yemaya lives and rules over the seas and lakes. She also rules over maternity in our lives as she is the Mother of All. Yemaya is motherly and strongly protective, and cares deeply for all her children, comforting them and cleansing them of sorrow. She is associated with the moon, white and blue flowers, cowrie shells, pearls, and mermaids.

As a new piece in the ‘Orisha’ series, the focus of this artwork is to show the serenity of the mother of all Orisha, enshrouded in her element, the ocean. The piece features UV reactive pigments as the artist explores the definitions of “darkness” and “light”
