Social media has a significant impact on the way psychological terms are used and understood. The fast-paced, and often superficial nature, of social media typically encourages the oversimplification of complex concepts, leading to the flippant use of psychological terminology. 

Social media thrives on trends and buzzwords. Psychological terms like “narcissist”, “gaslighting”, etc. often become viral, being used in posts, tweets and videos.
