Putting the right amount of beads on numbered pipe cleaners, fine motor. Jan 3 2013 I did this with my 2 1/2 year old and he had fun. What he really liked was not counting but just putting as many beads on a pipe cleaner that would fit. Though he did get to see the numbers again and again for recognition. He would say the number but keep adding beads. Lots of fun!

My placement school adopts a funky fingers, fancy feet scheme for fine motor skills. Each morning the children come in and do a fine or gross motor skill activity for the first fifteen minutes. Here are some of my own creations, inspired by this mindset. Ribbons and piper cleaners secured to colanders are a a fantastic, easy threading activity. All of the colours and patterns to be made have really motivated the children.
