I learned a ton from doing this piece, and it is definitely the one that I am the most proud of so far! I watched "The Pledge" cinematic, and I really liked the idea of Kalista hunting someone down, and painting that with an upshot, so I went with #3, even though I liked the #2 thumbnail because of its dynamic composition. . A piece of advice I received was to treat the background as if it is a character. I've always been most focused on the character, and in the first draft of this piece, the background was horribly dull and uninteresting. I then spent a day gathering some good reference of old buildings, did a line drawing, and then I made some swatches to keep track of all of the planes of the buildings. Once I got into it, I started enjoying that process as much as if it was Kalista herself.
